Direct TV an Alternative to Cable TV

I’ve been wanting to get away from Comcast basic cable for quite a while. The problem is they suck you in with their packages that include telepone, high speed internet, and cable TV service. When customers try to remove one of these, you lose the discounts of the bundle.

But the cable TV service just needs to go, as the service and quality is well below average. With so much discussion today about hi def, there isn’t much of that with Charter Cable. So I began doing a little research on who else was providing service in my neck of the woods.

I am fortunate to be one of the individuals who have been given a couple of options. Unlike most subscribers who can only select from either the cable company or DIRECTV satellite service, I have a third option in this area. The old telephone company in my neighborhood has been enhancing the telephone network. Now there is another consideration with Verizon and their FiOS service.

That doesn’t mean of course I won’t have the same issues. It could place me in the same situation as with the cable television company, as the phone company want customers to package their television setup with high speed and voice service. If the deal works out well, customers will be satisfied. Then again if the service is poor you are in the same situation that I’m in now with the cable operator.  So I’m doing a side by side comparison, cable TV vs Direct TV so I make the right choice.

Some reviews I found on the internet are fairly good on telecom TV service. Of course it is new, there is always a learning curve with a service like this, and some folks share their bad reviews. Those reviews are the funny, because customers make the decision to write a dissertation on their poor experience and share it on the internet. Unhappy customers rail on the company like it is some giant conspiracy to make the customer unhappy, as if the corporation does not want to make money!

Another way to go that I am looking into is of course satellite TV. Since we have four television watchers in our house, we have subscribed in the past to a premium cable television bundle. The satellite TV choices are fairly even, as the Premier Direct TV package and the Dish Network Everything package are both right around $100 a month. Sure that’s pretty high for pay TV, but when you compare that to taking your family to dinner and a trip to the movies, it really isn’t all that much. Some of my family speak Spanish, so the Direct TV Mas programming package looks pretty good. The great thing is that there are lots of Direct TV opinions to help me decide which direction to take.
