Extraordinary Egypt Holidays

Egypt holidays are becoming increasingly popular and when you consider the excitement of getting close to the famous sights such as the pyramids and the Sphinx, it’s easy to understand why. Let’s not forget that the desert itself is one big adventure waiting to be had! The desert is home to the best activity of all – exploring!

Wildlife-lovers may want to visit the beautiful, protected area of Wadi Rayan which is home to a freshwater desert lake where all sorts of animals come to cool off. For those who want to get more involved, there is always the option of taking a camel-ride, and there are plenty of tours starting in popular tourist destinations such as Cairo that offer such an experience. Where else can you ride a camel into the desert and camp out watching the sun set in the distance. Few things in life are as spectacular as a cheap holiday in Egypt.

Camels aren’t the only animals to be found in the Egyptian desert – what about whales? Travelling by jeep across the desert to Wadi Hitan will be the journey you’ll take to see The Valley of the Whales World Heritage Site – one of the most popular excursions for those on holiday in Egypt. Venture out into the desert and you may just find fossilised whale skeletons which date back 40 million years. This is perched on the sand with a backdrop of seemingly never-ending desert cliffs – a magnificent sight which everyone will marvel at. Camping out after enjoying a local dinner and then waking up amidst all this natural beauty is an incredible way to spend your time in Egypt.

You should try and take a tour through the Western deserts and to the green oasis of Bahariya. A lot of greenery can be found here and it’s quite simply a superb place to visit. In the 1990s a huge burial ground was unearthed here which contained an astonishing 250 mummies. So, perhaps a trip to Egypt is not for the faint hearted! Make sure you pack your swimmers as there are hot springs dotted around the oasis. Here, you can enjoy the ultimate relaxing experience in the Eqyptian sun.
